This offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles signed running back Saquon Barkley after he became a free agent when the New York Giants elected to not re-sign him.
Two offseasons ago, the Giants, who have a valuation of $7.3 billion as per Forbes, chose to extend their then quarterback, Daniel Jones. They franchise-tagged Barkley and didn't sign him to a long-term deal. The intention was to get an extension done with Barkley the following offseason, but it never came to fruition.
The Eagles signed Barkley to a three-year deal worth $37.5 million in free agency this offseason and Barkley has been on a tear all year. He's rushed for over 2,000 yards this season and is within 100 yards of breaking Eric Dickerson's all-time rushing yards record in a single season.
Speaking on "The Facility" on Fox Sports, former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy urged the Eagles to let Barkley break the record this Sunday against his former team to rub it in their faces.

McCoy said:
"The last thing we need to work out is the coach, the call number 26 out there and let him get them yards. And the last thing before you go chase, God, don't make mistakes. So 'the team that let me go, the GM that sign off on that, the place that drafted me, said I wasn't good enough to stay, you rather keep Daniel Jones to keep me.
"'I get to break the record on y'all (against the Giants),' and the question we have in today is if he should get the record or not. Y'all answer that question yourself."
Barkley broke McCoy's franchise rushing record a few weeks ago and has the chance to break Dickerson's all-time record next. With 2,005 rushing yards, Barkley needs just 101 yards to break Dickerson's all-time record of 2,105 rushing yards.
Saquon Barkley is having a career year in Year 7
Saquon Barkley was drafted by the New York Giants in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft and has been a star since his rookie season.
He started his career with back-to-back 1000-yard rushing seasons before being sidelined for most of the 2020 season. He had a down year the following season, rushing for just 593 yards in 13 games while averaging under four yards a carry.
In 2022, Barkley bounced back, rushing for over 1,300 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns. In his last season with the Giants in 2023, Barkley looked out of his prime, rushing for just 962 yards and six touchdowns while averaging less than four yards a carry again.
This season, Saquon Barkley has rushed for over 2,000 yards, 13 touchdowns and has added 278 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He's having one of the best seasons ever by a running back.
