Eagles CB Darius Slay fires shots at NFL owners amid Thursday Night Football outrage

Darius Slay didn't hold back his anger towards new Thursday Night Football discussions

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay recently spoke about the potential of the NFL having teams play more Thursday Night Football games in a season. A few days ago an owners' meeting was held, in which the topic was discussed.

While the league and teams will generate more revenue with another Thursday Night Football fixture, the players are certainly avoiding it. They know how tough it is to get the body ready before Thursday after playing on Sunday.

The Eagles cornerback claimed that if the teams have to play more TNF fixtures, they should add another bye week as well. Here's what Slay said on his podcast:

"I see the owners had an owner's meeting this week and I'm thinking they go get stuffs all you know, something is struggling just get better man you know, I wanted me to talk about some money you know, say increase the money.
"These dudes trying to add a second Thursday night game, what are we coming into. Can we get rid of the Thursday night? I thought we tried to get rid of first of that. First of all, ya’ll want to add another Thursday night game, but y'all don’t want to add an extra bye week. I ain’ kicking it, I ain't want ya’ll ain't even let the NFL and the players decide on this. Come on.
"I kind of understand like add another Monday night game, Monday night is cool, Thursday come on man, it’s already hard. Thumbs down to that. We don't need to be doing that. Come on now NFL. Please owners come on, you bring a Thursday night game you better add another bye week."

Whether or not the NFL will introduce another bye week for teams remains to be seen, but Darius Slay is certainly right. Another bye week will help the players recover well and avoid injuries that might be caused.

Last season, the majority of prime-time games were boring, which is why the NFL is trying to make smart decisions to keep fans entertained. However, this may come at the expense of the players.

Darius Slay was expected to be released by the Philadelphia Eagles during the offseason, but he ended up staying as the franchise offered him a newly revised contract.

Slay was quite critical to the Eagles' success last season, and losing him could have proven costly. However, now that he is back, the Eagles will hope to repeat the heroics of last season. They are still one of the best teams in the NFC and will be a Super Bowl contender next season as well.
