Eagles fans call out Nick Sirianni for turning it over on 4th down early on vs Falcons - "Idiots," "Take the EFFING POINTS!"

The first quarter of the Philadelphia Eagles-Atlanta Falcons Monday Night Football game was hard to watchas neither team scored. The Eagles came the closest, marching deep into Falcons territory.

But facing 4th & 4 at the nine, instead of just kicking in a field goal and getting a lead, they elected to do the standard scrimmage play. The result was Mike Hughes deflecting a Jalen Hurts pass aimed at Dallas Goedert, meaning a turnover:

This led to much anger towards Eagles coach Nick Sirianni.

More of it can be seen below:

"Dumb decision," one chided.
"Here comes the boos," another portended.
"They are no good at all," another lamented.

The Falcons would eventually take the lead in the second quarter via a 39-yard field goal by Younghoe Koo.

Nick Sirianni had identified turnovers as something Eagles had to improve on before Falcons game

One of the issues that plagued the Eagles in their win over the Packers was a high turnover count - three. And that was an area that Nick Sirianni emphasized during practice for the Falcons game:

“We can't be in the negative of the turnover (margin). We're the only team (at minus-2 or worse) that won. That's not sustainable. So protecting the football (is huge).”

Besides that, he also emphasized the need for more tackles - they whiffed on nine in the Friday game:

“We talked about it with the team (and) we reinforced it today… Did some of the missed tackles happen because a guy slipped? Yeah, the result of the guy slipping. But there's also a way that you approach the running back. That's what needs to be fixed.”

Meanwhile, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio emphasized the need to improve their approaches to tackling, including being more tempered in setting them up:

"Some of the missed tackles were due to the leaky run defense that let good backs get in the open field or a good wide receiver on that one run, and it's hard to tackle good players in the open field."

That approach would lay off on Monday, with safety Reed Blankenship having 7 solos.
