Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles are on a mission. The superstar running back had a fantastic season, becoming only the 9th running back in the history of the league to run for over 2,000 yards in a single season. He did so in 16 games.

He had a real chance to break the record of most yards in a single year, needing only 101 in the final game of the season. However, the Eagles made a smart decision and rested him for the playoffs, and as such, he wasn't able to grab the record. He understood the decision, especially as a Super Bowl is possible for Philadelphia.

Fresh off another dominant performance, this time a 25-carry, 119-yard game against the Green Bay Packers, the running back is already thinking about the very next game. In an Instagram story posted on his account on Tuesday, he posted a picture of himself running out of the tunnel, indicating that he's back to work.

The rushing yards amassed in playoff games do not count toward the official records of most yards in a season. Considering his individual quality and the Eagles offensive line, it's not absurd to think about the running back aiming for 2,000 yards in 2025.

What's the next game for Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles?

They are set to play the Divisional Round against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, 3 p.m. ET, at Lincoln Financial Field. As the higher seed, the game will be hosted in Philadelphia.

Everyone knows about Barkley's quality, but no team is more aware of the problems he can bring than the Rams. The two teams met in the regular season, and in a 37-20 win by the Eagles, the running back had 26 carries, 255 yards and two touchdowns.

The 255 rushing yards were a franchise record.

Barkley is considered the favorite for the Offensive Player of the Year (OPOY) award, and he's only in the first of a three-year contract with the organization. This is looking like a better investment by the Eagles every day that passes.
