Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith is one of the fastest wide receivers in the NFL, but one of his teammates seems to be catching up to his speed. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has reportedly looked faster in training camp.
On "Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams," the host said she heard that Hurts looked faster this year in training camp and asked Smith if he agreed.
"Yeah, he looks a lot faster," Smith said.
Adams then asked Smith, "Who would win in a race?" and if Smith would "smoke" Hurts. Smith responded by roasting his own quarterback immediately after praising him.

"Of course, 100%... yes, 100%," Smith said.
It shouldn't come as a surprise since Smith ran a quicker 40-yard dash than Hurts.
Hurts ran the 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.59 seconds during the NFL Combine. Smith didn't have a combine coming out of college due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. He reportedly ran a high 4.4-range for the 40-yard dash during his sophomore year at Alabama.
Smith also weighs less than Hurts, being 6'0" and 170 pounds, compared to Hurts, who is 6'1" and 223 pounds.
After Jalen Hurts signed contract extension last offseason, DeVonta Smith received an extension this offseason
Both DeVonta Smith and Jalen Hurts are important pieces to making the Philadelphia Eagles' offense a success.
Last offseason, the Eagles made Hurts one of the highest-paid quarterbacks, reaching a five-year contract extension for $255 million, with nearly $180 million guaranteed. At the time, he became the highest-paid player in NFL history.
Fast forward to the 2024 offseason, and the Eagles made two more key moves. The Eagles extended both Smith and wide receiver A.J. Brown, locking each of them up for at least three more seasons.
Smith signed a three-year, $75 million contract extension, and Brown signed a three-year, $96 million contract extension.
Smith and Brown are arguably the best one-two punch at wide receiver in the NFL. The duo has each had over 1,000 yards receiving in each of the last two seasons. The Eagles paid them both this offseason, and if they maintain their levels of play, it'll be a lot easier for Jalen Hurts to succeed.
