Eli Manning has volunteered to help the New York Giants draft a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft after the franchise moved on from Daniel Jones midseason. The Giants finished with a 3-14 record and are slated to pick third overall.
The team needs to address its quarterback situation. Toward the end of the season, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito were left as starters, and none of them were convinced enough to become the face of the franchise. They have been trying to solve this position ever since Eli Manning retired after bringing two Super Bowls to New York.
Now, the man who was part of their last era of success has offered to be the person who helps usher in a new dawn. As reported by the New York Post, the retired quarterback said he can help search for a rookie who might become the next Giants star. He commented,
“I like watching film. If that’s something I’m wanted for, needed for, be happy to look at film and get involved in that part of it.’’

Eli Manning is not an established scout but he has experience playing in the league at a high level and also has some inside information about the character of some of the young quarterbacks coming through college or the Manning Passing Academy. He continued,
“Yes, I mean a little bit, just over the years, just guys I’ve been around, whether it’s Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss or quarterbacks over the years who have been to the Manning Passing Academy. Just what kind of person they are, kind of more off-the-field stuff than maybe on the field.’’
Eli Manning's judgment on Daniel Jones did not pan out for Giants
The one reason the Giants might be skeptical about hearing from Eli Manning is that he was not quite right with his prognostication on Daniel Jones. The two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback thought that his successor was destined to succeed, saying in his retirement presser,
"I know Daniel. I appreciate a lot of things about him, and the fact that he loves the game of football. He's passionate about it and he works extremely hard, so you appreciate those things. If that weren't the case, it might have been harder to go through this situation, but you see the way he conducts himself, and I think, you know, he's got a bright, bright future ahead of him and do so the Giants."
It has not quite worked out that way as Daniel Jones is now not even on the team and unsure if he will get a starting role elsewhere.
