In February, just days before the Super Bowl 2024, Patrick Mahomes' father was arrested. In August, Mahomes Sr agreed to a 10-day sentence in jail, following which he'll be on probation for five years and another year of supervision. Reports indicate that his sentence began in October.

According to a video of the arrest posted by TMZ on Friday, Mahomes Sr tried to use Patrick's name to get out of the situation. While some fans made light of the situation, others expressed their discontent with Mahomes' family, criticizing what they perceived as entitled behavior.

"The entitlement is crazy," one fan said.

"That family is something else. The entitlement is unreal," another fan said.

Some also noted how Mahomes' parents are the ones who are bringing a bad reputation to his name. Many were unhappy he tried to use his son's name to get out of this situation.

"It's bad when your father and brother bring shame to your brand and name," one fan said.
"Patrick Mahomes Sr. found himself in a tough situation, trying to use his son's name to avoid a DWI stop," another fan said.
"Poor Patrick. It isn’t his fault his dad is a POS," one fan said.

Some fans, however, believe his father's actions aren't a reflection on him.

"What his dad does don’t effect him hahaha," a user said.

Patrick Mahomes' father celebrated six months of sobriety

Back in August, Patrick Mahomes' father was celebrating six months of being sober. Arrested for DWI, the former baseball star seemed proud of his achievement. Mahomes Sr made an IG post about the same, where he posed with MLB icon Pete Rose.

"I would like to thank my God, wife, family and friends for 6 months on the sunny side of the road. I know it’s been hard getting to know sober Pat, but it’s well worth it. Trisha Mahomes, thanks for all you do," Patrick Mahomes' father wrote on Instagram.

Patrick Mahomes is yet to comment on his father's case. Though vocal about his season and relatively active on social media, Mahomes has always preferred to avoid commenting on personal matters publicly.
