Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is likely at the top of a few NFL Draft. The New York Giants, who have been in turmoil at the QB position after releasing Daniel Jones earlier this season were positioned to draft Sanders however a new mock draft shows otherwise.
ESPN's Jordan Reid released an updated mock draft after the conclusion of the 2024 NFL regular season. The Tennessee Titans have the first overall pick and Reid believes Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward would be the first off the board.
Reid then speculates that the Cleveland Browns would select Shedeur Sanders with the second overall pick in the draft. This would be an interesting move as they have Deshaun Watson under contract until the 2026 NFL season. Watson has however been injury-prone over the last three seasons and the Browns need a reliable backup.

Reid's mock draft then predicts that the NY Giants would draft Heisman winner Travis Hunter with the third pick. Hunter is a dual threat at both the wide receiver and cornerback position but despite his acquisition, the Giants would still have to fill a hole at the QB position. If they draft Hunter, the NY Giants would probably look to sign a veteran or draft a talented QB in the second round

Shedeur Sanders won't have an opportunity to select which NFL team he will get to play for. The likely first-round draft pick did however make his preference clear. When Sanders and the Buffaloes took the field in the Alamo Bowl last month against BYU, the quarterback's custom cleats were red with accents of blue and the NY Giants' logo was printed near the heels of the shoe.
New York would be a good landing spot for Sanders not only because of the hole that they need to fill in at his position but also because of the presence of wide receiver Malik Nabers who just had a standout rookie season. After they signed the now-waived Daniel Jones to a lucrative contract extension over running back Saquon Barkley, New York can ill afford another error while selecting QBs.
