There have been very few weeks where the Dallas Cowboys have been out of the headlines. Despite failing to make the playoffs, we find ourselves talking about the franchise all over again as GM Jerry Jones bit the bullet and announced parting ways with coach Mike McCarthy. The Cowboys' decision comes days after they had rejected a request from the Chicago Bears to interview McCarthy.
With the McCarthy era now done and dusted, the Cowboys have set their sights on another Super Bowl winner - Deion Sanders. 'Prime Time' is serving as the coach of the Colorado Buffaloes but has made it known he would be open to coaching in the NFL if he's given an opportunity to coach both his sons - Shedeuer Sanders and Shilo Sanders.
Former Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro Chad Ochocinco shared his opinion on the matter on X (formerly Twitter):
"Prime to the Cowboys."

Deion Sanders confirms interest from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones
Jerry Jones fired Mike McCarthy in the afternoon and seemingly wasted no time in reaching out to a man many assume will be his top choice as a replacement. Sanders confirmed that Jones had reached out to him on Monday, telling ESPN:
“I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”
How much would it cost Jerry Jones' Cowboys to prise Deion Sanders away from Colorado?
Per NFL reporter Charean Williams, like Bill Belichick, Deion Sanders also has a buyout clause in his contract. While Belichick's buyout stands at a reported $10 million, Sanders has an $8 million escape clause that allows him to field interest from the NFL.
It remains to be seen if Jones' interest goes any further than simply testing the waters. As things stand, given the timing of firing McCarthy, the Cowboys cannot interview Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson or his colleague, defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn until January 20, given Detroit is in the Divisional Round.
Had the Cowboys fired McCarthy on Black Monday, they would have the opportunity to request an interview with both candidates last week, albeit in a virtual manner.
