Former professional football players Marcellus Wiley and Ryan Clark got into a heated exchange on the social media platform X on Wednesday over accusations of "race-baiting."
It all started with a fairly innocuous tweet from Ryan Clark to Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson after their playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
"You fought 8! Gave your team the chance. Had adversity in the first half & kept pushing. Did everything you had to in the 2nd half to earn extra minutes. That’s the way it goes when it’s good on good. This ain’t on you, you showed up in the most important moments @Lj_era8!" Clark wrote.

That tweet somehow upset Wiley, who went off on Clark on his podcast, "Dat Dude TV."
“Do you all see the difference in tone and intention of RC after a Lamar Jackson loss with good numbers, versus a Josh Allen when he loses with good numbers?" Wiley said. "This is to point out the hypocrisy, the race-baiting of Ryan Clark.”
Wiley insinuated that Clark was holding Lamar Jackson to an easier standard because of skin color.
“What is the purpose of him race-baiting right here?" Wiley said. "It’s race for the riches. It’s result rhetoric. He knows that this will stir it up. He knows this is disingenuous.
“The truth of it is, Lamar Jackson played a great game. Josh Allen played a better game. Ryan Clark could have used this moment to show you quarterback wins isn’t a personal stat. It’s a team stat. This game showed Josh Allen didn’t play as well as Lamar Jackson, but it’s a team stat, he wins the win. He could have used it to do something profound.”
Former cornerback Clark caught wind of the segment and replied on X:
War of words between Marcellus Wiley and Ryan Clark continues on X
On Wednesday, the pair went back and forth multiple times on X. Wiley replied first with a photo of the two of them together at an event:
Clark then replied with a screenshot implying that an incident took place at the same event Wiley mentioned:
Wiley then replied, refusing to allow Ryan Clark the opportunity to discuss with him face-to-face:
Clark doubled down on a verbal spar. He also claimed to have called and DM'd Wiley:
This went on for several tweets, with Wiley standing by his statement but not engaging with Clark on the request for a conversation. Wiley also tweeted out a diss track, which Clark has yet to reply to:
It seemed like the debate over Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson has brought these two retired football players into conflict about off-field values. This is unlikely to be the last we hear of this feud.
