Ex-Chiefs QB makes bold claim on Lamar Jackson's MVP-esque season, but there's a catch - "It will be failure to me"

Lamar Jackson had the best season of his career in 2024. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback led his team to the third seed in the conference, while also putting together a strong case for the MVP award. The Ravens won the AFC North for the second straight year.

While winning individual awards is always a good sign, this would be the third MVP of Lamar's career, but the quarterback is still missing the most important title: a Super Bowl. And the pressure is mounting.

Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel, who made a career in the league out of many backup spots, stated that, while this season could be considered a success statistically, the quarterback will feel like it's a failure if Baltimore does not end up with a ring:

I got a graphic. It talks about his playoff career versus the 2024 regular season. 45 touchdowns, 9 interceptions. It's a 5:1 ratio. Unbelievable; in the playoffs, though, 2-4, 9 touchdowns, 9 turnovers, a 1:1 ratio. Coaches talk about this ratio all the time. A 2:1 ratio is great. 1:1, it's like, hey, for every touchdown, you got a turnover. It's not good. You got to prove to me that you can go through really good teams, the Chiefs and the Bills and Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes to get to a Super Bowl for the AFC, because this season, statistically, it's not a failure. But.. if he doesn't carry this team to the Super Bowl, not only will he think it's a failure, but I will too.

Lamar Jackson's final stats in the 2024 season

The Baltimore Ravens quarterback was considered the Most Valuable Player in the league in 2019 and 2023. However, it's difficult to argue that his best year since being drafted into the NFL was in 2024, when he reached many career highs.

Lamar finished the season with 4,172, 41 touchdowns and 66.7% of completed passes, all while throwing just four interceptions in 17 games. The quarterback forged a fantastic partnership with Derrick Henry: as a result, he also added 915 yards and four touchdowns as a runner.
