The Kansas City Chiefs are once again on their way to the Super Bowl.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs edged past the Buffalo Bills in last night's AFC Championship game, 32-29. With the win, the Chiefs are heading to the big game for the third year in a row. If they're victorious, they'll be the first team in NFL history to achieve a "three-peat" by winning three Super Bowls in a row.
In the wake of the Chiefs' victory, former Washington Commanders quarterback RGIII took to his X account, formerly known as Twitter, noting that the NFL struck "ratings gold" with the rematch between the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs look to make NFL history
In his eighth NFL season, Patrick Mahomes is looking to capture his fourth Super Bowl ring, and break an NFL record in the process. Becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to lead his team to three consecutive Super Bowl victories would be an unprecedented feat and one that may never be repeated.
To achieve this remarkable feat, they'll have to get past the Philadelphia Eagles, who have been dominant this year behind the leadership of quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back MVP candidate Saquon Barkley.
The Eagles' run game has been nearly unstoppable throughout the 2024 NFL season, thanks to a dominant offensive line. And with a dual-threat signal-caller in Hurts who can also punish defenses with his legs, it has certainly been a formidable one-two punch. But will it be enough to avenge their Super Bowl LVII loss to the Chiefs?
Back in 2023, Mahomes and the Chiefs defeated Hurts and the Eagles 38-35 to win the Lombardi Trophy. Now, years later, with both teams seemingly better than their last meeting, the two juggernauts will face off once again for the league's ultimate prize. It's a tall order for the Eagles, as Mahomes has only ever lost one Super Bowl game in his career.
That game was against all-time great quarterback Tom Brady, who defeated Mahomes and the Chiefs as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to earn his record-setting seventh Super Bowl ring.
Regardless of the outcome, it will be an NFL-first. Mahomes and the Chiefs could make history by securing the first-ever three-peat, or Jalen Hurts could capture the first Super Bowl victory of his career.
Super Bowl LIX will go down on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from Ceasars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
