It didn't take the Washington Commanders too long to grind the remnants of the Dan Snyder era into dust. The 2024 season represented a turning of the page for the franchise with new ownership, a new coach and an electric young quarterback under center.
Their offseason plan to pair former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn with Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels has clearly paid off, as evident with their 23-20 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Commanders now have a week to prep to go up against the NFC's top dogs, Detroit Lions. But congratulations are in order for Dan Quinn and his coaching team, given that it was the franchise's first playoff win in 19 years. Incidentally, that win also came against the Buccaneers on Jan. 7, 2006, when Daniels was only five years old.
Former Cowboys All-Pro Dez Bryant was among several NFL personalities to congratulate Quinn on social media, but Bryant also had a few words for his beloved Cowboys.

"Dan Quinn turned a once-struggling franchise into a playoff contender and won his first playoff game…Until Dallas focuses on winning instead of politics..Cowboy fans should not expect success soon…I'm telling you this straightforwardly.., just as I always do," Bryant wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Bryant also revealed that Quinn tried to bring Bobby Wagner to Dallas when he was still the defensive coordinator and how that was the first thing Quinn's franchise did when he landed in Washington.
Who will Dan Quinn's Washington Commanders face next?
The Commanders will have the pleasure of going up against the Detroit Lions next weekend.
The Lions have had an additional week off to prep for this Divisional Round showdown, which means Quinn and his coaching team will have to be on their toes, especially given the pedigree of Lions OC Ben Johnson, who has been pulling trick plays out of his hat all season. le pp
It's also likely that Quinn will have to start looking at candidates to take over as offensive coordinator next season, given the fact that Kliff Kingsbury is likely to get a couple of interviews for coaching gigs around the league.
