The Dodgers maintained their perfect start to the MLB season in exceptional circumstances as Shohei Ohtani hit a walk-off home run against the winless Atlanta Braves to give them a comeback victory. It was a special moment and the baseball star was welcomed back to the home plate by teammates after securing the win.

Former Cowboys star Dez Bryant weighed in on that by expressing his admiration for Shohei Ohtani and how the Dodgers notched the victory. He posted on X/Twitter, writing,

"What a comeback!!!!"

Ex-Cowboys WR's praise for Shohei Ohtani in stark contrast to other comments in NFL

While Dez Bryant was effusive in his praise for Shohei Ohtani, this is not a sentiment that is shared widely across the board. The baseball superstar has been in the NFL news for a different reason lately.

Travis Hunter, who played both cornerback and wide receiver positions in college, is seeking to be a two-way player in the professional football league after the 2025 NFL Draft. However, he already believes that his job is harder in football playing on both sides of the ball than it is to be a hitter and pitcher.

Travis Hunter later clarified his comments by saying that he was not trying to diminish the baseball star's skills. Rather, his comments were purely about the physical nature of the game and he acknowledged that not many people, if any, can do what the Dodgers star is doing right now.

"First, I'm talking about the physical aspect. I'm not saying anybody can just go out there and play both sides of the ball or anybody can go out there and just do what Ohtani do... I don't think there’s probably nobody been able to hit as good as him and go out there and throw the baseball better than him. So, I'm not saying what I'm doing is way harder than what he does. I'm just saying, on the physical aspect, it is." - he said.

However, the latest victory shows what really makes Shohei Ohtani special. It is not that he can play two ways. Rather, he helps the team win and dominate by doing so. The baseball star is not a novelty; he is an MVP. When Travis Hunter gets into the league, that should be his focus too: not merely playing both positions but excelling in both to help whichever team picks him in the 2025 NFL Draft.
