The New York Jets finally landed Davante Adams on Tuesday after weeks of rumors about a reunion with Aaron Rodgers. Hours after the Jets lost to the Buffalo Bills to go 2-4 for the season, the front office pulled the trigger and added Adams to the wide receiver room from the Las Vegas Raiders.

Everybody reacted to the news, including former quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. The journeyman posted an ironic message on X, formerly Twitter, to mock Rodgers' influence on the Jets' front-office decisions.

"I don’t know why people keep suggesting it but Aaron Rodgers has no say with the decisions that Woody Johnson makes….," he tweeted.

This notion has been around for years now. It was already strong when Rodgers was in Green Bay, and after he landed in New York considered the Jets' salvation, fans and analysts predicted he would influence the team's decision.

Adams remains a terrific wide receiver who can impact the Jets' offense, especially after Mike Williams struggled to make plays against the Bills. Adams will debut on Sunday when the Jets face the Steelers, hoping to snap their three-game skid at a hostile stadium.

Fitzpatrick wasn't the only one who called out Rodgers in the past 24 hours. Four-time Pro-Bowler Boomer Esiason took issue with the quarterback's words, criticizing Mike Williams for not running the right routes.

"I don't ever remember Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or anybody else... I don't ever remember them ever saying anything publicly behind the podium the way that Aaron did last night," Esiason said on "Boomer and Gio", via Aweful Announcing.

Aaron Rodgers shares his thoughts on Davante Adams' arrival

Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams immediately linked up after the trade was announced. The wide receiver joined the quarterback in Tuesday's episode of "The Pat McAfee Show," and detailed what Adams will bring to MetLife Stadium.

"He infuses a lot of energy into the team right away. He's a proven star player. I think he's really gonna help Garrett out. I think when you can be around a guy who's done it at a high level for a long time. There'll be a lot of things he'll be able to pick up," the four-time NFL MVP said.

The season is still salvageable for the Jets, but if they fail to turn things around, there won't be many people to blame before the attention turns to Rodgers.
