Former NFL star LeSean McCoy ignited debate in the MVP race by backing Josh Allen over Lamar Jackson. His argument centered on the Buffalo Bills quarterback's ability to excel despite having significantly fewer Pro Bowl teammates than his Ravens counterpart.

McCoy, a former Philadelphia Eagles running back, brings a veteran perspective to a heated MVP discussion. Allen and Jackson have emerged as frontrunners, with betting markets favoring the Bills' signal-caller, according to recent NFL MVP Watch reports.

Speaking on "The Facility" on Thursday, McCoy addressed the Pro Bowl roster announcements. The timing proved perfect, as the Ravens had just set a team record with nine selections, their highest mark since 2019.

"I'm gonna go with Josh though," McCoy said. "You know, it's funny that today all the Pro Bowls came out, I knew that none of the offensive weapons for Josh Allen would make the Pro Bowl. But for the Ravens, oh, my man, they got some pieces over there."

The Pro Bowl selections tell a striking story. While Baltimore boasts offensive stars like Zay Flowers, the first Ravens receiver to make the Pro Bowl in team history, Buffalo managed just two selections. Allen and left tackle Dion Dawkins stand as the Bills' lone representatives despite winning 11-plus games.

McCoy highlighted Josh Allen's ability to thrive without elite weapons;

"I think it really matters when players can go out there and ball out with guys like Stefan Diggs, who's all pro type of caliber receiver, top five type of dude, and you still go out there and do the same type of results with guys like Mack Hollins," McCoy said.

The numbers reflect two different paths to excellence. Allen has powered the Bills to 30-plus points in 12 games this season, tied for second-most in NFL history. His 14 sacks taken rank lowest among quarterbacks who've played 16 games. Jackson, meanwhile, has set a Ravens franchise record with 39 touchdown passes.

The Bills' success comes after trading away Stefon Diggs and fielding an offense with no 1,000-yard rusher or receiver. The Ravens, conversely, added Pro Bowl running back Derrick Henry, who leads the AFC with 1,783 rushing yards. Jackson also benefits from a revamped receiving corps led by Flowers' breakthrough 1,047-yard season.

These contrasting circumstances make the MVP race particularly compelling. Jackson chases his third MVP award with a star-studded supporting cast. Meanwhile, Josh Allen's ability to elevate a rebuilt offense has positioned him as the potential first-time winner.
