Ex-Jets Pro Bowler believes Travis Kelce is in panic mode, floats return of Super Bowl winner as solution

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce made some eye-opening remarks on the latest edition of his supremely popular "New Heights" podcast. The three-time Super Bowl champion admitted that he was struggling to find his rhythm in this Kansas City offense and that he just isn't clicking with Patrick Mahomes.

“Right now, for whatever reason this year, I just can’t find my way in the end zone,” Travis said on the Dec. 4 episode of the podcast. “I’m just not on the same page as Pat. It can get frustrating. It can get f--king frustrating, that’s for damn sure."

Kelce's comments swiftly (no pun intended) made their way to mainstream media and on talk shows where NFL analysts debated what it would take to get this Chiefs offense firing on all cylinders.

On the latest episode of FS1's Speak, former Jets Pro Bowler Keyshawn Johnson offered Chiefs head coach Andy Reid some advice on how to tackle the dilemma:

“It sounds like a little bit of a panic to me. When you get frustrated, you start to say certain things because you start to panic. He will never admit that he’s panicking.”

"But because there’s a panic, I would recommend to the great coach Andy Reid, there is a young man who has just become available who you may want to see if he… Hey Eric Bieniemy, come back here and hang out with us a little bit and see how things can go. Much like he did last year for the Super Bowl.”

Bieniemy, a two-time Super Bowl winner with the Chiefs as offensive coordinator, was fired by the UCLA Bruins last night. However, his agent Jason Fletcher told ESPN that it was "previously planned" and that Bieniemy had always had a return to the NFL in mind in 2025.

NFL world paying attention to Chiefs' late-game wins

The Chiefs have secured some late and tight wins over the past few weeks. While they are 11-1, it appears the Chiefs' rivals are beginning to smell blood. They suffered their first loss of the year to the Buffalo Bills three weeks ago before barely escaping with a 30-27 win over the Carolina Panthers and a 19-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Black Friday.

On an episode of FS1's The Facility earlier this week, former NFL QB Chase Daniels also drew attention to the fact that the Chiefs have been cutting it close.

“I don’t believe in luck but this is getting really fricking weird. If you go back and look at the season as a whole, they’re 11-1. They have nine one-possession games. In five of those, they’ve won on the last play of the game. This last one was the second-to-last play of the game," Daniel said.
