The New York Jets are officially in the market for a new head coach (and a new general manager) and they are already making moves to fill that vacancy. The Jets have already interviewed four candidates for the role - ex-HC Rex Ryan, former Washington Commanders HC Ron Rivera, former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, and Detroit Lions DC Aaron Glenn.
Alongside Lions OC Ben Johnson, Glenn is seen as one of the few candidates who will likely land a HC role in the 2025 coaching carousel. On Thursday, Jan. 9, former Jets safety Victor Green endorsed Glenn for the role with a tweet saying:
"This needs to be our coach. He is so real and right. A lot of coaches don't have this mentality. I can speak to that firsthand. Hire the man. I may [sic] come out of retirement."

Glenn has been in a coaching role for 11 years in all. This season is his fourth year as Detroit's defensive coordinator. Despite losing the likes of Aidan Hutchinson and Alim McNeill and Carlton Davis, Glenn has kept the defense afloat all year long. Under Glenn, the Lions have allowed the second-lowest completion percentage (61.1) and the lowest passer rating (82.0) this season.
Detroit's defense is also second in the league for passing TDs allowed (18) and are tied for fifth in INTs (16).
Dan Campbell confronts possibility of losing Aaron Glenn as DC
Next season, it's very likely that Dan Campbell will have to find new coaches as his offensive coordinator and his defensive coordinator.
Both Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn have interviews lined up with several teams. Campbell is aware of that possibility but went out of his way to endorse his coaches.
"Aaron Glenn is as good a coach as you're going to find, he's an even better human being," Campbell said [via NFL dot com]. "Look, if nobody wants him, I'll take him again. I can tell you that right now. The thought of going through another cycle and he's not somebody's head coach is ridiculous."
The Jets have already interviewed Glenn but Sportskeeda's NFL insider Tony Pauline reports that the Saints are eyeing Glenn to take over as their head coach for 2025.
