In the 2022 offseason, then Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill requested a trade from the team, as he was demanding to be paid more money. This came as a surprise to many as he and Patrick Mahomes were widely-viewed as the best QB-WR duo in the NFL.

Hill got his wish granted. On March 23, 2022, Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2022 first-round pick, a 2022 second-round pick, two fourth-round picks and a 2023 sixth-round pick.

He then signed a four-year, $120 million deal with $72.2 million guaranteed, becoming the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history at the time.

After spending three seasons with the Dolphins, Hill has made it apparent he wants out of Miami. He said so in his last interview of the season following their season finale and changing his profile picture to Antonio Brown when he stormed off the field.

Speaking on his YouTube channel and "The Richard Sherman Podcast," the eponymous host of the show called out Hill for letting his ego get in the way of success.

Sherman said:

"You're like, 'Hey, I chased the money, and now I'm unhappy because the money doesn't fill the void.' Maybe winning is more important than money, and now he realizes that. But it takes losing to realize that. It literally took him going against the team he played for, losing to them in the playoffs, and then watching them win a Super Bowl without him.
"Sometimes, that is a shot to the ego, and I'm sure it was a shot to his ego in that playoff game—to lose to your former team and then watch them go win a Super Bowl without you. Kansas City continued to thrive without him. They went 15-2 this season and haven't really looked back since he left. They've won back-to-back Super Bowls since he left."

Sherman then said that Hill learned late that he needed the Chiefs more than the Chiefs needed him and that success may be more important than money.

"It's one of those situations where it almost feels like, 'Hey, I'm going to show these guys. I'm going to go get my money, and then they'll see how much they miss me.' And then you realize, 'Damn, they don't miss me that much. They're not even thinking about me.'
"Maybe he wasn't as important as he thought—maybe just a cog in the wheel. He is a special player, though. He went to Miami and had a lot of success, had an incredible season. Kansas City didn't force him out. He went to get the money; he had a price that he wanted."

Tyreek Hill indicated to Miami Dolphins reporters that he wants out of Miami next season. Hill told reporters after Miami's season finale:

"This is my first time I haven't been in the playoffs. I just gotta do what's best for me and my family. If that's here or wherever the case may be, I'm finna open that door for myself. I'm opening the door. I'm out, bro."

Hill is currently under contract with the Dolphins until 2026, becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2027. But, these days, the landscape of wanting out is much different.

Hill is likely to be traded this offseason, given his recent comments. Retirement isn't off the tables for the 30-year-old who has made $119 million in his career. Hill has hinted at it multiple times in the past.
