Former NFL MVP Cam Newton sounded off on Tyreek Hill wanting out of Miami and trouble around Tua Tagovailoa.

The Dolphins failed to make the playoffs and Hill immediately said he wanted out, while there are questions about Tagovailoa and his health. However, Newton, who won MVP in 2015, believes the quarterback struggles in the cold due to not having enough arm strength.

“I think the verdict’s out with Tua Tagovailoa and his arm strength," Newton said on Sunday, via '4th and 1.' "That’s a real thing. Does he have the capacity to keep guys like Jaylen Waddle, Tyreek Hill, Jonnu Smith. Everybody wants stars until you have to realize what comes with those stars.

“You want the Stefon Diggs, the Tyreek Hills, the Odell Beckhams, the Justin Jeffersons, the Ja’Marr Chases, the Davante Adams. These guys want the f*****g ball and it’s your job as a quarterback or as the playcaller Mike McDaniel to get these guys the ball."

Newton took clear shots at Tagovailoa as he believes the QB's lack of arm strength and ability to keep his receivers happy is troubling. He also thinks some blame has to be on Mike McDaniel for not calling the right plays to get the ball in Hill and Waddle's hands.

This season, Tagovailoa went 291-for-399 for 2,867 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa once again dealt with injuries in 2024.

He suffered a concussion and a hip injury and didn't play in the last two games of the season. Entering the offseason, Miami general manager Chris Grier said that Tagovailoa needs to stay healthy and can't take any risks.

“(Tagovailoa) needs to be available,” Grier said on Tuesday, via DolphinsWire. “He needs to know how to protect himself. Like, you’re going to get hit at times, it’s always going to happen, but he needs to control what he can control. He understands that not being available for taking chances and risk is unacceptable to us. And he knows that.”

Tagovailoa will begin his four-year $212,400,000 deal in 2025 and the Dolphins will have the 13th overall pick in the NFL draft.
