If one takes Jerry Jones' words as true, it doesn't seem like Mike McCarthy would be leaving the Dallas Cowboys any time soon. Despite the Cowboys' 7-8 record, Jones seems to have unwavering faith in his team's coach. But that might change once the team enters the offseason when McCarthy is up for an extension.

Maybe Jones says he believes in McCarthy so that he does not cause panic in the locker room with just two more games to go before the season ends. Or he doesn't want to make headlines by criticizing his coach.

However, former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel thinks McCarthy would be better off coaching the Bears' Caleb Williams than Dak Prescott, who became the highest-paid player in the NFL with a recent $240 million contract extension.

"You (Mike McCarthy) know that division," Daniel said. "You have a rookie quarterback who you would say at the time when he's coming out is more developed than Dak Prescott was as a fourth-round pick. You have an old-school mentality, which the Chicago Bears need. And you don't have to deal with a crazy owner."

The Bears have a 4-11 record with first-round pick Caleb Williams as their starting quarterback. Could Mike McCarthy prove to be the missing piece that they need to turn around their fortunes?

Jerry Jones clears the air about Mike McCarhty's future with the team

On 103.5 The Fan radio show, Jones addressed rumors that had been floating that he hadn't given Mike McCarthy an extension because he was going to let him walk away once the season ended.

However, he dismissed all such rumors, expressing confidence in the coach and lauding him.

"I can't tell you how proud I am of the way the coaching staff, led by Mike McCarthy, the way that the leadership on this team, and really proud of these young players," Jones said. "They just are growing mentally and physically by leaps and bounds, makes me think we've got an outstanding future ahead of us."

With Shedeur Sanders up for grabs in the NFL draft, many have speculated that his father Colorado coach Deion Sanders would join his son in the NFL. Jones might hire Sanders to lead his Cowboys, but that decision would have to come months before Dallas would draft Sanders, and there's no guarantee the Cowboys could do so. Besides, Jones and Sanders are good friends.

Will Jones hire Sanders to fix the Cowboys or will McCarthy have to attempt the feat himself?
