Former Green Bay Packers receiver and Super Bowl champion James Jones doesn't think Justin Fields is a starting quarterback in the NFL. Fields has become Pittsburgh's starter due to an injury to Russell Wilson, and the Steelers are off to a 3-0 start.
Despite the brilliant beginning to the season, Jones believes Wilson should still be the starting quarterback for Pittsburgh once he gets back from his injury.
"When you turn on the tape, the young fella's playing really, really well. But my answer is no, because as long as Russell Wilson is on that team, until the Pittsburgh Steelers trade Russell Wilson, because I do believe Russell Wilson is not going to be on this team for the whole year," Jones said.

"But if he is, and he's standing on that sideline, I cannot sit here comfortably today saying that if Justin Fields plays two bad games to where he's turning the ball over or he's not playing well, that you can look over there at Russ and say, you ain't going in right now," Jones added.
Through three weeks, Fields has gone 55-for-75 for 518 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He's also rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Justin Fields says he's proving himself right
Justin Fields was expected to be the Pittsburgh Steelers' backup quarterback in 2024. But, after Wilson got hurt ahead of Week 1, Fields has taken over the job and ran with it.
Fields believes that he is proving to himself that he can be a starting quarterback in the NFL after the Chicago Bears gave up on him.
"I'm not really worried about that," Fields said, via ESPN. "I'm more so into proving myself right. I know what kind of player I am. I haven't changed my whole life, so at the end of the day, my teammates help me be great.
"So shout out to them -- shout out to our defense, shout out to everybody else on the offense for pushing me each and every day at practice. It's just a credit to them. So, I'm definitely glad and just feeling good to be in this position, to be honest with you."
Fields and the Steelers return to action on Sunday on the road against the Indianapolis Colts.
