Ezekiel Elliott and Raheem Mostert are two running backs with much to prove in the 2022 NFL season. On the one hand is Zeke, a three-time Pro Bowler who has had his critics over the years, critics that have only grown louder this season.

On the other hand, Raheem Mostert is a veteran who has played for seven franchises since he went undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Both players have interesting matchups in Week 6 of the 2022 NFL season, and they will be looking to rewrite the narratives around their vastly different careers.

As a bonus, they will be looking to bring joy to the hearts of the numerous fantasy football team owners that picked them in the NFL fantasy draft. So, who do we feel is a better pick for your fantasy team?

We believe that Ezekiel Elliott is the better pick for your fantasy team. Let us explain in detail why that is the case.

Ezekiel Elliott has been doubted many times throughout his 7-year NFL career, and he has always replied in the best way possible by digging his Cowboys out of obscurity.

Elliott might be competing against a budding star in Tony Pollard, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a running back more accomplished in the league today. The reason is that Zeke combines speed with a next-level knowledge of the Cowboys' offense, which is genuinely rush first.

On the other hand, Raheem Mostert has been a welcome surprise lately, as the career backup is coming into his own as a starter for the Miami Dolphins. Lately, he has been rewriting his legacy, contributing to the Dolphins' 3-2 opening to the season, and that is despite losing the controversial Deshaun Watson for good.

However, that's not quite enough to knock Zeke from his perch. Worse still, Mostert is questionable for the Dolphins' Week 6 game against the unpredictable Minnesota Vikings.

Why is Ezekiel Elliott a better pick than Raheem Mostert?

Ezekiel Elliott is a better pick than Raheem Mostert because Zeke has been there, done that, and triumphed numerous times over adversity. Mostert, on the other hand, is in his second true season as a starter, and he plays for a pass-first offense in Miami.

Ezekiel Elliott and his pseudo backup Tony Pollard share the ball in a run-first offense handled by backup quarterback Cooper Rush. That's a huge contributor to both of them being a part of the top 30 rankings of running backs in the league (by fantasy points) this season. Raheem Mostert barely breaks into the list at number 30, but the numbers don't lie.

How did Ezekiel Elliott and Raheem Mostert perform last season?

Elliott and Mostert had very different experiences in the 2021 NFL season. Elliott started every game in the 2021 season, scored 10 touchdowns, and led the Cowboys to another playoff run.

Raheem Mostert was not so fortunate, as he had a nasty knee injury in the very first game of the 2021 season against the Detroit Lions. Mostert was originally slated to be out for at least eight weeks, but instead, team doctors later deemed that the injury was serious enough to end his season prematurely.
