It's a new era for the Washington Commanders with Dan Quinn leading the charge alongside rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Commanders picked Daniels with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft but Washington fans didn't have to wait all that long to catch their rookie quarterback in action.
The Commanders suited up for their preseason opener agains the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on August 10, Saturday afternoon. Aaron Rodgers didn't suit up but it seems Daniels has taken it upon himself to provide all the entertainment.
In what was just his second throw in the game, Daniels launched one deep towards Dyami Brown. For a second, it looked like Brown wouldn't quite pull it off but the WR held on to complete what proved to be an electric play.

Commanders fans went crazy with Daniels' throw, hailing him as their QB1.
Daniels managed to keep the ball later in the drive to rack up his first touchdown in Commanders colors.
Here's how fans reacted to Daniels' 42-yarder:
"Fantasy stock on the rise," one fan noted.
"Beast mode activated," another fan wrote on X.
"I'm drafting him first in fantasy football," a third exclaimed.
There was also more than enough praise for Dyami Brown. ESPN's Mina Kimes added that she "still believes" in the Commanders WR.
Washington Commanders' preseason schedule in the spotlight
After facing the Jets sans Aaron Rodgers, Jayden Daniels and co. will travel to Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins on Saturday, August 17. The Commanders-Dolphins game will kick off at 7 PM from Hard Rock Stadium.
Their final preseason game will be against the New England Patriots on Sunday, August 25 at home. The Patriots-Commanders game will have a storyline of its own with the #2 overall pick facing off against the #3 overall pick in Drake Maye.
Interestingly, Maye got just six reps in the Patriots' first preseason game. Franchise legend Rob Gronkowski later noted that it was "a little weird" to see Maye get such precious little game time, urging the Patriots to trade away Bailey Zappe (who got the most reps) to ensure game time is split between rookies Maye and Joe Milton.
