Raheem Morris and the Falcons came into their Week 18 game against the Panthers knowing that a win would preserve their chances of making it into the playoffs as the NFC South as long as the Saints defeated the Buccaneers. Ultimately, Tampa Bay got the win they needed to book their postseason ticket and made the result between Atlanta and Carolina moot.

However, the Bucs could have gotten in without all that hassle had they known that the lowly Panthers would defeat the Falcons. Carolina won 44-38 in overtime and it looked like a replay of Raheem Morris' defeat last week to the Commanders that changed the equation in the NFC South.

Atlanta had a few seconds on the clock with a couple of timeouts when they got the ball to end regulation time with the scoreboard reading 38-38. Instead of trying to get close to field-goal range, they ran a rushing play and then let the clock expire. Raheem Morris hedged his bets on getting an overtime win but Bryce Young won the toss to receive. The quarterback then led his team on a touchdown drive that ended the game without Michael Penix Jr. touching the ball.

After two weeks of similar scenarios, it looked like Atlanta fans had enough. They took to X/Twitter to express their frustrations. Here are some of the comments.

Supporters continued to pile on with some saying that the coach should be fired after his first season in Atlanta. Here are some more responses.

"I said Raheem Morris was the wrong hire for the Falcons. Manyyy people told me I was incorrect, great hire despite the fact he had a losing record as HC. Well hope yall enjoyed that defense, losing record, and mismanagement of the clock and games consistently" - said one.
"What the f*ck does Raheem Morris actually do in Atlanta? He clearly doesn’t call plays, his clock management is terrible, and he just stands there and looks at the jumbotron. Someone please tell me what he does to help this team." - vented another.
"Why is Raheem Morris not calling timeout AGAIN at the end of the game? At least try to make a crazy play to win. This guy is addicted to taking timeouts home with him" - wondered a third.

Falcons loss to Panthers looks like a rerun by Raheem Morris

This defeat came after last week's loss in Washinton when the Falcons' head coach failed to use a timeout to allow his goalkicker to get closer to the goalposts. They lost that game in overtime as the Commanders marched down the field to score a touchdown, just as the Panthers did today.

That also meant that they surrendered their lead in the NFC South to come into Week 18 needing help from the Saints. In the end, none of that mattered as Atlanta could not keep up their end of the bargain.
