Atlanta Falcons coach Raheem Morris tried to shed light on Drake London's celebrations against the Philadelphia Eagles in Monday night's game-winning drive.

The wide receiver caught the pass from Kirk Cousins to get six points and tie the game at 21 apiece before the extra point was good to confirm the Falcons' win in a hard-fought duel.

After being lifted by his teammates, London mimicked a gun with his hands and 'shot' into the air in front of the referees. This cost him an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Morris addressed that moment on Tuesday, sharing a curious explanation of what London tried to achieve with that celebration.

"Initially, I didn't see it and I guess it was the use of a weapon and how people interpreted that as a penalty. Drake is a great kid. His intent was not as a use of a weapon. He probably was shooting t-shirts into the stands, to be honest with you, because he’s just that kind of a guy.
"But, he was excited, he got excited. He's one of those guys that play with great energy. He immediately apologized on-site before I even got the chance to correct him," Morris explained.

The Falcons ended up stunning the Eagles 22-21 after Kirk Cousins led the game-winning drive that ended with Drake London's touchdown catch and subsequent celebration. The penalty resulted in the extra point being taken from 48 yards out.

The Eagles bounced back after dropping their season opener to the Pittsburgh Steelers 18-10. The Falcons entered this season as an intriguing team following the signings of Cousins and Morris, and a win against one of the top teams in the NFC will surely boost their confidence.

Drake London improved after disappointing Week 1

Drake London didn't have the best presentation against the Pittsburgh Steelers, only catching two passes for 15 yards. He finished Week 2 with six receptions for 54 yards and one touchdown reception.

It was a better overall performance by Atlanta, who are now 1-1. They are now in the mix to fight for the NFC South division title with the inspired New Orleans Saints and last season's winners, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

London and the Falcons will face the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, trying to make a bolder statement against an undefeated team. Facing them at home could present an advantage for the Falcons, but the Steelers showed that they're beatable at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
