Marlon Humphrey is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, capable of stopping plays with accurate deflections and hard hits; however, if Saturday's development is any indication, he may have overdone one of the latter.
The league office announced that the Baltimore Raven was being fined $45,020 for delivering a helmet-to-helmet hit to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen during their Divisional Round matchup last week.

And it resulted in fan outrage:

"The NFL is getting away with highway robbery. I understand it could be unnecessary roughness but to fine him almost $50K is just crazy! Insane."
More of it can be seen below:
"Josh Allen should also get fined then for lowering and using his helmet while being a runner," one demanded.
"Josh Allen lowered the helmet. That’s not Marlon’s fault," another insisted.
"Seems unfair and unintentional," another rued.
Humphrey reacted to the fine on his social media account:
Other players besides Marlon Humphrey who received fines after Divisional Round
Speaking of that Divisional Round Game, Marlon Humphrey was not the only defender to get a fine for illegal playing moves. Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver drew a $16,883 penalty for using a hip-drop tackle to stop a rush by Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in the second quarter.
As for the other AFC Divisional Round game, Kansas City Chiefs safeties Justin Reid received respective fines of $14,069 and $8,443 for "a violent gesture" and a hip drop tackle.
Houston Texans cornerback Kris Boyd was docked $8,056 for removing his helmet after Samaje Perine recovered a fumble that he had forced on Nikko Remigio on the opening kickoff return. He also had a confrontation with special teams coordinator Frank Ross after the play.
Defensive end Will Anderson Jr. and linebacker Henry To'oTo'o, meanwhile, each managed to avoid a monetary deduction for their hit on Patrick Mahomes.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was docked $25,325 for celebrating a second-quarter touchdown against the Washington Commanders with pelvic thrusts - an "obscene gesture," according to the rules. From that same game, linebacker Frankie Luvu received two $16,883 fines for roughing the passer and using a hip-drop tackle.
Two Los Angeles Rams were punished for illegal actions during their team's loss at the Philadelphia Eagles: linebacker Michael Hoecht lost $11,255 for a late hit; cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon was fined $6,722 for hitting a defenseless receiver.
