Fans drag Jerry Jones' execs into nepotism debate: "Cowboys fans hate this s**t"

New York Giants v Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones and his family are facing scrutiny in nepotism debate.

Jerry Jones and his family were questioned for nepotism, given that the Dallas Cowboys owner's children work in senior positions within the Cowboys organization. The nepotism debate came up after NBA star LeBron James' son, Bronny James, was picked up by the Los Angeles Lakers at No. 55 in the 2024 NBA draft.

Fans around the sports world called the situation an example of nepotism. This also led some fans to the Dallas Cowboys organization, where Jones' daughter Charlotte works as executive vice president and chief brand officer, while his son Jerry Jones Jr. works as executive vice president and leads the sales and marketing department.

Some Cowboys fans even believed that Jones hiring his children had hindered the organization's ability to succeed.

While most comments agreed they didn't agree with either situation, others noted that this isn't new and that nepotism has revolved around sports and business for years.

"No. We are definitely mad about this."-said one fan
"Nah but we like this cause the Cowboys are awful because of this."-joked another
"Not quite equivalent, but everyone knows that nepotism has ruled the world forever. Can’t fault those for using the opportunities they’re given though."-one fan stated.

Here are a few other reactions:

"Real life episode of succession."-stated another
"Preparing to pass your child a billion dollar business that YOU OWN is not the same as getting your child who statistically is not ready a job at your company using leverage. It is apples and oranges. I wish them the best tho."-argued another fan
"What if… hear me out. We hate that too?"-shared another user on X

Mike McCarthy reportedly unhappy with Jerry Jones control of Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is presumably on the hot seat heading into the final season of his contract in 2024. McCarthy has so far been unable to get the Cowboys past their postseason woes and could be seeing the end of his tenure.

NFL reporter Tyler Dunne reported that McCarthy is 'fed up' with Jerry Jones. McCarthy reportedly doesn't have as much say as he would like and blames Jones for controlling all aspects of the team. A former member of the Dallas Cowboys staff told Dunne:

"[McCarthy’s] doing it the best he can. Some of the people I’ve talked to have said that he’s getting fed up with it a little bit," former member of Cowboys staff told Dunne.

Mike McCarthy is unhappy that Jerry Jones calls all of the shots when it comes to roster decisions and apparently doesn't feel that this path will allow the Cowboys to succeed.
