For the first time in over 30 years, the Baltimore Ravens will have a purple helmet. The Ravens unveiled a new purple helmet design on Tuesday to pair with their all-purple "color rush" uniforms for one game during the 2024 season.

The NFL previously limited teams to one helmet per design per season before the league loosened up their rule and allowed teams to begin using an alternate helmet for the 2022 season and a third helmet in 2025.

Some of the details on the Ravens' new helmet include a metallic purple rising paint, a front-facing alternate logo, gold talon stripes, purple visor clips and a gold face mask.

Fans were hyped to see the Ravens introduce their new alternate helmet this season. Here are some of the reactions:

"W for bringing back the color rush also," one fan reacted.
"Im so deadass this might be the best helmet uni combo in the league and its top 5 all time," one fan said.
"THEY HAD NO BUSINESS SNAPPING ON US THIS HARD," one fan said.

While some fans were hyped about the Ravens' introducing their new alternate helmet design, not everyone was thrilled.

With any new uniform, logo or helmet release, there will be mixed opinions on the new drop. Some fans thought the design was lazy, and some didn't like features such as the alternate bird logo or how purple the design was.

Here are some of those reactions:

"That bird logo awful. Should have just put the gold B from the regular Ravens logo or anything else actually," one fan said.
"These are horrific. What," one displeased fan wrote.
"If puke purple were a color, that’s what these would be. Gross," one fan said.

While fans anticipate uniform/helmet changes and tweaks often over time, it takes a long time to perfect and design.

Baltimore Ravens Senior Vice President of Marketing Brad Downs spoke about the process on "The Longue Podcast." He said many designs were considered, and he's pleased with the end result.

"We pay attention to all of that feedback from the fans, to really try to land on something they're going to love. I've been waiting for this day for a long time. We know our fans have clamored for it. They just like new stuff," he said.

Overall, it seems like the reception of the Ravens' new helmet change seems positive. Even Ravens players are digging their new helmets.

On the Ravens website, tight end Mark Andrews, wide receiver Zay Flowers, and cornerback Nate Wiggins all seemed happy with the new helmet.

"It's bad-ass man," Andrews said. "This is the one right here," Wiggins said. "I know we look sweet. I don't even have to see it on camera," Flowers said.

The Ravens will get to sport the new helmet in one game this season.
