Travis Kelce is a man of many roles. He is the Kansas City Chiefs' star tight end who has had the most 1,000-yard seasons of anyone at his position, both consecutive and cumulative. During the offseason, he is an avid golfer and party host.
He is also a budding celebrity whose relationship with Taylor Swift has become a global phenomenon and even broken TV viewership records. And now fans want him to add "budding politician" to that list.
Someone on X.com by the username Curve125 recently suggested that Kelce run for Vice President of the United States:

This suggestion got plenty of support from fans, with one believing Kelce would be a superior choice than Donald Trump's Republican running mate, JD Vance.
"I support this. Please make this happen," one fan said.
More reactions can be seen below.
"I approve this message," one said.
"That last bullet point just made me crack up. I’d pay to see that," another said, referring to Kelce being able to beat up Vance on live TV.
"Honestly that would probably clinch the election," another said.
Examining Travis Kelce's political leanings
Where does Travis Kelce stand in the American political spectrum?
While Travis Kelce has not been very vocal about his ideological leanings, his "extracurricular activities" paint him as being on the Democratic left. Among those include:
- Promoting vaccines and vaccination in ads
- Endorsing Bud Light, which has employed the likes of TikToker and trans activist Dylan Mulvaney in the past
- Appearing in socially progressive sketches on Saturday Night Live, with one being a critique of hypermasculinity
- Kneeling during the national anthem back in 2017, one of the first white players to do so (just as Colin Kaepernick was being blacklisted for doing the same thing)
- Doing an anti-racism ad with Nike
Back in February, Jackson Katz, a columnist for the feminist magazine Ms., wrote:
"Travis Kelce profoundly disrupts the right-wing appeal to (white) male identity. In fact, when traditionally successful men like Kelce support liberal and progressive causes and candidates—especially openly and unapologetically—they help to provide a “permission structure” for young men to vote for Democrats, including Joe Biden."
Meanwhile, The Guardian's Ramon Antonio Vargas opined that such beliefs have allowed the fanbase of his pop superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift to more easily latch onto him:
"They are more progressive than those held by nearly every other prominent white American professional athlete – and therefore line up comfortably with those of the singer and most of the so-called Swifties who support her."
Like Travis Kelce, Swift has been known for her positive perception among the LGBT fanbase.
