“Why Chargers always getting hyped up?”- Fans troll Justin Herbert and co. for being ranked highly in NFL power ratings

AFC Wild Card Playoffs - Los Angeles Chargers v Jacksonville Jaguars
NFL fans aren't happy with the latest rankings that has the Los Angeles Chargers higher than most believe

Are the Los Angeles Chargers as good as some think? The latest PFF power rankings for the National Football League have been released and they are rubbing some NFL fans the wrong way. Mostly because fans don't feel that the Chargers should be ranked as the seventh-best team in the NFL.

While the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Buffalo Bills round out the top four, there are some questions about the bottom half of the list.

The Chargers have shown a lot of improvement in the last few seasons, especially after drafting quarterback Justin Herbert. But Los Angeles is still falling on their unlucky playoff route.

They clinched a playoff spot this past season and then fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round.

Others wondered how the Baltimore Ravens could be listed in the top 10 when there is so much uncertainty around quarterback Lamar Jackson. The 26-year-old asked for a trade in early March amidst contract negotiations.

While this is a 'way too early' power ranking list for the NFL, it definitely was a conversation starter for NFL fans just weeks before the offseason picks up with the NFL Draft.

Will the Chargers give QB Justin Herbert a contract extension?

With big paydays being handed out to some of the brightest stars in the NFL this offseason, could quarterback Justin Herbert be next?

Last week, at the league meetings in Arizona, Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said that he is confident about Herbert being the quarterback of the team for the foreseeable future.

"I'm confident that Justin Herbert is gonna be our quarterback for a long time."

It is speculated that Herbert could be in line to get a contract extension worth $50 million per season.

That would put him just behind quarterback Aaron Rodgers in terms of salary per season. It would also put Los Angeles in a tough spot with the salary cap. Other decisions would need to be made in order to pay their quarterback when the time comes.

However, with Staley's confidence in getting a contract eventually done, the team is apparently ready to make any moves to keep their quarterback and build a competitive team around him.
