When is enough, enough? Based on the recent evidence presented by Nathaniel Hackett and Russell Wilson, the latest loss was the breaking point. The Denver Broncos played the Los Angeles Rams today. At the start of the season, each team would have had lofty ambitions and one would have expected a close game.
The Los Angeles Rams were Super Bowl champions and would have wanted to retain the Lombardi Trophy. With the Denver Broncos getting Russell Wilson and new coach Nathaniel Hackett, they were supposed to be contending for postseason honors. As it turned out, both the teams were entering this game with a 4-10 losing record. So, for completely different reasons from what we assumed at the beginning of the year, this ought to have been a close game too.
Instead, it was a blowout. The Rams won 51-14 against the Broncos and it was a horrible performance all around. The head coach was badly found out by the result and he got no help from his quarterback. He threw for only one touchdown and three interceptions, culminating in a 54.2 quarterback rating.
It was an all-round bad performance and signaled the end of patience for many Denver fans. The reaction on Twitter was equally brutal. Here is just a sampler of some of it.

Just how bad has the Nathaniel Hackett and Russell Wilson combination been this season?
When the Denver Broncos moved into new ownership this season, they would have been hoping for a great performance by their new quarterback and coach that would set them up as immediate contenders.
Instead, they entered this game scoring 15.6 points per game, the lowest in the league. They were coming up against a team allowing 22.9 points per game and they would have hoped to get their average up. Instead, they scored fewer than their average points. It was a horrific offensive performance and the responsibility lay squarely with the quarterback.
Their defense was not much better either because they were facing a Los Angeles Rams team that had scored the fewest yards in the league coming into this game. Instead, they scored 51 points, absolutely blowing the Broncos off. Failing on both sides of the ball is as much on the coach as any other member of the team.
Quite simply, it is time to admit that the Nathaniel Hackett and Russell Wilson experiment has failed. Whether the team chooses to get rid of one or both is now the next salient question.
