Tom Brady embarked on his broadcast career with FOX Sports this season. The 7x Super Bowl-winning quarterback is part of the network's lead broadcast team, with a program with Kevin Burkhardt called the "Game of the Week" every Sunday.
While his lengthy and historic NFL career should make him a knowledgeable analyst, his role as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders sometimes comes into play. Brady is restricted from saying and doing some things that could violate the NFL ownership rules. One of those is that Brady isn't allowed to criticize NFL officials, and some fans believe he may have done just that on Sunday.
Brady called the Sunday afternoon matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions a highly contested battle between two NFC North heavyweights. Lions' safety Brian Branch was ejected during the second quarter, and the five-time Super Bowl MVP expressed his thoughts that he didn't believe the ejection was justified.
Fans on social media were quick to voice their opinions that Tom Brady clearly broke the rules as an NFL owner.

Some fans on X agreed that other announcers would be more than welcome to disagree with the ejection. However, if Brady was going to take on both roles, he should be no better. One fan even stated they believed the NFL could fine Tom Brady for his remarks.
"Time to end Tom Brady as a broadcaster because he was part ownership of the Raiders. Also get rid of Kevin Burkhardt move him to the studio. We need Joe Davis & Greg Olsen as the A team for FOX."-one fan suggested
"Big fine incoming Monday for Brady."-one user on X said
"He needs to quit FOX and their $375m if the NFL has a fit over that."-said another viewer
Brady signed a ten-year deal worth $375 million to work with FOX Sports in 2022 while playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After taking a year off after retirement, he officially joined the booth at the start of the 2024 NFL season.
Some fans also believed he shouldn't have been approved as an NFL owner if FOX Sports had employed him.
"I mean it ain’t like Brady hasn’t broken rules before in his career lol."-one fan joked
"this is why it’s ridiculous that he’s allowed to call games if he’s going to be a partial NFL owner.-said another
"A broadcaster tiptoeing around everything is really entertaining smh."-said one person who wasn't happy with Brady's dual roles
What did Tom Brady say during Sunday broadcast?
Last month, the NFL officially approved Tom Brady to become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Even if it is just a 5% investment, Brady is required to follow the rules as an owner. As a broadcaster and an owner, Tom Brady is not allowed to visit team facilities, bet on games, participate in production meetings, or criticize NFL officiating crews.
During the second quarter of Sunday's matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, Brady may have violated one of those rules. Lions cornerback Brian Branch was ejected after what officials called a head-to-head hit on Packers' receiver Bo Melton.
Branch was penalized for unnecessary roughness and then the review in the NFL offices in New York determined it was an offense so severe that it required an ejection.
Tom Brady told Kevin Burkhardt that he disagreed with Brian Branch being ejected.
"I don't love that call at all. I mean, obviously, it's a penalty, but, to me, that has to be serious intent in a game like this."-Brady said of the call
The former NFL quarterback didn't disagree with a call for unnecessary roughness. He just didn't feel that the cornerback should have been ejected. Those sentiments could now find Tom Brady in hot water with the NFL.
