Former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy outlined how he would use Colorado Buffaloes star and Heisman trophy winner Travis Hunter. The young star has thrived both on defense and offense, winning the Heisman award after a terrific campaign, beating the likes of Ashton Jeanty, Cam Ward and Dillon Gabriel.
During a Tuesday conversation with Colin Cowherd on his "The Herd" show, Bieniemy, who last coached with the UCLA Bruins, shared his thoughts on how Travis Hunter would shine in the NFL.
"I think the kid is a tremendous athlete. I'm selfish. I'm on the offense side about I want him to play receiver for me, right and so, but because I watch all the dynamic things that the kid does, he makes dynamic catches, jet sweeps, he can run. He has unbelievable hand and eye coordination. He can track the football... The kid could be an outstanding receiver and so but you got to pick and choose a side you can design and get him involved in the game early and often," he said.

During his 2023 season, Travis Hunter was nothing but remarkable, as he caught 92 passes for 1,152 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. He helped the Buffaloes to post a 7-2 record in the Big 12 and 9-3 overall, becoming bowl-eligible in Deion Sanders' second season with the team.
Can Eric Bieniemy, Travis Hunter link up in the NFL?
After being fired following only one season as the UCLA Bruins offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy is now pondering his options to continue his coaching career. After stops with the Kansas City Chiefs and more recently the Washington Commanders, he joined an NCAA Division I program to try to make an impact on a different kind of team.
It remains to be seen if he gets a new chance in the league and if he somehow joins forces with the receiver version of Travis Hunter. His agent talked about Bieniemy's plans, explaining that he never planned to sit out the year.
"After interviewing for head coaching jobs last year, he (Eric Bieniemy) wanted to stay active and busy," the agent said. "So, he decided to go help out Deshaun Foster, who is like his little brother, at UCLA as opposed to sitting out a year. The plan was always to return to the NFL in 2025, and he's looking forward to the opportunities ahead."
The future might be bright for both Eric Bieniemy and Travis Hunter.
