Kliff Kingsbury has played a major role in the Washington Commanders' success during the 2024 NFL season. He has worked with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who has already become a superstar, leading the team to the NFC championship game by upsetting the Detroit Lions 45-31 on the road in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs on Saturday.
Their offense has been one of the biggest keys to their breakout season, so Kingsbury deserves some of the credit as their offensive coordinator. Apparently, former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has taken notice, and has even campaigned for Jerry Jones to go out and get him.
The Cowboys are currently seeking a new head coach after parting ways with Mike McCarthy during the 2025 NFL offseason. Following the Commanders' victory over the Lions, a fan on X posted that the Cowboys should be targeting Kingsbury to fill this position:
"Bring in Klifff Kingsbury as head coach"

"Right now!"
Kliff Kingsbury has previous experience as an NFL head coach, as he spent time in the position with the Arizona Cardinals. He turned in mixed results during his time there, totaling a 28-38-1 record and making one appearance in the NFL Playoffs.
SInce then, he served as the offensive coordinator for the USC Trojans before accepting his current role with the Commanders.
He helped Caleb Williams become the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft and then contributed to Jayden Daniels likely being the Offensive Rookie of the Year. This could be why he is Dez Bryant's preferred pick as the next Cowboys head coach.
Kliff Kingsbury joins list of candidates to become next Cowboys HC
Jerry Jones is leading the search for the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and has reportedly expressed interest in several potential candidates.
He made major headlines when it was reported that he spoke with Deion Sanders about the position. Coach Prime is currently with the Colorado Buffaloes and is also a former Cowboys superstar during his playing career.
Some of the other rumored favorites to potentially land the position are Kellen Moore and Brian Schottenheimer, who have served as the past two offensive coordinators in Dallas.
Kliff Kingsbury has joined them and an extensive list of other options, and considering his recent success, he should be taken seriously as a legitimate possibility to eventually be hired.
