It's been a while since anyone talked about Aaron Rodgers. The four-time MVP's season ended with a win that was a case of too little too late as the New York Jets limped to a five-win season and failed to come anywhere close to making the playoffs.

With Robert Saleh fired midway through the season and former GM Joe Douglas following him through the exit door, the Jets knew they were staring at an overhaul for next season. They put one piece in place on Wednesday after they announced that Aaron Glenn would be joining the team as the 22nd head coach in franchise history. Glenn will now return to the team he played for in his first eight NFL seasons.

Through the interview cycles, Glenn made it clear to his potential employers that they were not just getting a defensive mastermind, but a head coach who would set the culture right at the organization. The Jets' former No. 1 overall pick Keyshawn Johnson believes Glenn is the right man for the job but is fully convinced he will not roll with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback in September.

“The Jets’ situation is phenomenal. What he can do is go into New York and set a different type of culture. I can guarantee 100,000% that culture’s going to change overnight. He’s going to challenge his players just like he did as a defender," Johnson said on Wednesdays' episode of FS1's Speak.

“He will not start off his career with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback in September. If he does, I’m walking from Calabasas at 4 am in the morning to the studio with nothing on but boxers. I’m saying this with a lot of confidence.”

What Aaron Rodgers' return would mean for the Jets' Aaron Glenn era

The free agency market is not looking too promising at the moment when it comes to teams in dire need of a quarterback. Sam Darnold, Justin Fields and (potentially) Kirk Cousins stand to be the biggest names available, though none are seen as bonafide game-changers.

The Jets are also out of the range to draft Miami's Cam Ward or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders in April, with both QBs expected to be off the board by the time the Jets are on the clock with the seventh overall pick.

In these circumstances, the Jets could very well broach the subject of Rodgers returning for the last year of his deal. If Rodgers is on the roster for next season, the Jets' cap hit would come in at $23.5 million. He is also owed a $35 million option bonus on top of a base salary of $2.5 million.
