Former NFL MVP Cam Newton has advised the New York Jets on how to get the best out of Aaron Rodgers. The Jets appear to be putting out a new fire every week. Since firing coach Robert Saleh, trading for Davante Adams and firing general manager Joe Douglas, they have had to deal with a multitude of issues stemming from their decisions.

Amidst that, there has been that one lingering issue of Aaron Rodgers failing to get the offense going despite having talent across the board. Then there was a rumor that claimed Jets owner Woody Johnson pondered benching Rodgers just to get a reaction out of the rest of the players. Nevertheless, it's not looking good for the franchise as they enter Week 13 with a 3-8 record.

As the Jets and Rodgers grapple with whether they wish to run it back in 2025, former NFL MVP Cam Newton gave the franchise some advice on how to deal with getting the best out of Rodgers. On his 4th and 1 Show, Newton said:

“If they are going to draft a quarterback and keep Aaron Rodgers as the starter. Allow him to develop the quarterback. And when it’s his time, everybody will know. And just maybe, with the competitor we know Aaron Rodgers to be, he’ll be like ‘Ah bulls**t.’ Because it happened once already and Aaron Rodgers said ‘Ah bulls**t, not today.’

"They drafted Jordan Love. He was like oh, R-E-L-A-X. Draft another damn quarterback, that’s going to light that fire up under his a** no matter how old he is, and you’re going to figure it the f**k out."

Cam Newton gives NFL Draft prospects advice on landing with Aaron Rodgers' Jets

If the Jets decide to part ways with Aaron Rodgers, the free agent QB pool in 2025 doesn't quite boast a series of big names. The biggest name on that list would be Justin Fields, with the Steelers rumored to be looking to lock down Russell Wilson as their starter.

If the Jets, projected to have the seventh overall pick, choose to draft a quarterback, they could have a few options. Shedeur Sanders probably won't slip to seventh overall, given the New York Giants' desperate need for a QB. The Raiders, projected to have the third overall pick, also need a starting QB, which could put Miami's Cam Ward out of reach.

However, if either QB lands with the Jets, Cam Newton has some advice for them:

"If I was one of those damn quarterbacks coming up – Quinn Ewers, Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward – I wouldn’t be mad if I had to get drafted by the Jets. I ain’t got no pressure, I can just learn from one of the greatest.”

The Jets are yet to make a firm decision on their QB situation for next year. But Sportskeeda's resident draft expert Tony Pauline sees the franchise Michigan CB Will Johnson with the seventh pick in his Mock Draft, considering they will likely lose D.J. Reed in free agency.
