The Dallas Cowboys are moving on from head coach Mike McCarthy. After some uncertainties on whether the team would bring back McCarthy with his contract set to expire after midnight on Tuesday, it was announced this morning that McCarthy would not return next season as Dallas' head coach.

Even before the decision, fans and media were split on whether or not they felt like McCarthy deserved to be brought back.

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant made his stance clear on the move, in support of the team moving on from McCarthy.

Bryant tweeted:

A few hours after the news was announced of the Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones moving on from Mike McCarthy as their head coach, Jones issued a statement following the team's decision.

Jones said:

"Throughout Mike McCarthy's tenure here, including the last several weeks, I have been very complimentary of the job he has done. That has applied to our record over that time period, our team unity and culture, Mike's qualifications and track record of success, and on a personal level as a tremendous human being. I have great respect for Mike, and he has led the team through some very unique and challenging times during his tenure."

Jones continued:

"Over the past week, Mike and I had the opportunity to conduct a joint review of all aspects of the past season, our players and staff, and also spent considerable time discussing the road forward for the team. These discussions were thorough and received an appropriate amount of time and depth to cover. Prior to reaching the point of contract negotiations, though, it became mutually clear that it would be better for each of us to head in a different direction."

McCarthy has already recieved interest in opportunities elsehwere. The Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints are expected to be interested in him for their vacant positions.

As for the Dallas Cowboys, they are now the newest team to be on the head coaching market and will begin their search for their next coach.
