Fred Warner had some strong words for his San Francisco 49ers colleagues before they took on Dan Campbell and the Lions. The Detroit coach had said that he is not considering resting any players for their matchup against the Vikings next week, which will determine who finishes atop the NFC. Instead, he said they would bring everyone to the West Coast looking to win, commenting,
"I'll make this easy for everybody that way all the critics can jump out and start attacking, but that way you don't have to debate them anymore. We're bringing everything we got to this game and we are playing, I don't care what it looks like and where it's at and who's this, who's that. We're going out to play and win this game, out on the West Coast. So there you go."
In response to that, the 49ers stalwart said that his colleagues should take Dan Campbell's comments personally and send them limping back home. Making an impassioned plea for the players to defend their home turf, Fred Warner said,
""Dan Campbell said 'we're bringing everybody to the West Coast.’ For what? To get your a** beat tonight.""

Jauan Jenning takes Fred Warner's diatribe against Dan Campbell to heart versus Lions
It was fair to say that Fred Warner's words had the desired effect as the 49ers came out on fire and scored touchdowns on their opening two drives. It was also clear that San Francisco players were not in the mood to down their tools against a Lions team that has already qualified for the playoffs and looking to secure the top seed in the NFC. The 49ers, on the other hand, have long since been eliminated from postseason contention.
Jauan Jennings epitomized that approach on San Francisco's opening drive against Detroit. With the home team offense parked in the red zone, he took his defender all the way back through the end zone with some rough blocking. It earned him an unnecessary roughness penalty but that was offset by a Lions player coming in and getting involved.
More evidence was at hand when the 49ers' special teams blocked the Lions' extra-point conversion to preserve their 7-6 lead in the first half. Ironically, Fred Warner and the San Francisco defense struggled to match up to their other units. Detroit responded with two touchdowns of its own to those by the home team to make it an explosive opening to the game.
