On March 16, 2023, offensive tackle Andrew Wylie inked a three-year $24 million deal with the Washington Commanders.

He played with the Kansas City Chiefs for the last six seasons, winning two Super Bowls with the team and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Wylie spoke with Kay Adams, the host of Up and Adams about the free agency process. She asked him what it was like, how long it took, and what it meant to follow former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to the Commanders.

Wylie said:

"Well, you know, I got so much praise for coach EB speaking on my behalf, fighting for me to get into that building, so that means the world to me and I'm ready to fight for that guy, just like we have for the last five years together. I did this whole free agency thing last year and it took a little while, money drives up pretty quick so I ended up signing a one-year deal last year."

Wylie added that when he hit free agency this off-season, it was different because he already had a few offers on the first day.

"This free agency was a little bit different. Me and my agent kind of went back-and-forth, you know, we thought we were going to get something done in a week but then he shows up at my spot here on the first day with a few offers. That was really cool to be a part of and the fact that DC came in with a little bit of a bag there, so me and him, I couldn't be more thankful for my agent."

Wylie was an undrafted free agent in 2017. He was a member of the Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, and Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad. He joined the Chiefs in 2017 and made the active roster before departing the team this off-season.

Bieneimy was the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2018-2022.

He joins the Commanders as he will be able to call plays and will have more power in controlling the offense.

While both Wylie and Bieniemy contributed to the Chiefs' two Super Bowl victories in the last five seasons, they'll try to replicate the same success in Washington.
