George Kittle at the 12th Annual NFL Honors - Arrival

The NFL honors saw Kelly Clarkson hosting the program, but George Kittle and Cam Jordan stole the spotlight from her with their singing. While Jordan wanted to sing about new Denver head coach Sean Payton, the San Francisco 49ers player decided that the entire team needed a shoutout.

Kittle created a medley of the players' names who contributed to such a fantastic season for the 49ers. They persevered against all odds after losing two starting quarterbacks to injury and made it to the NFC Championship game. But losing starting quarterback Brock Purdy made it an impossible mission as they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.

George Kittle was on hand to recap the brilliant season. But he also saved some salvos for Dallas Cowboys fan Kelly Clarkson, as the 49ers dumped her team out in the playoffs. Here is a look at his performance at the Annual NFL Honors for 2023.

Cameron Jordan was on hand to praise his old coach with the New Orleans Saints. It was a humorous composition, even asking for his help to turn the Denver Broncos around. He needled Russell Wilson's abject performance over the course of the season. However, Jordan was not done roasting quarterbacks as he said the reason Payton left television was that Terry Bradshaw giving him a headache. However, like any good comedic piece, he even took himself down a notch by saying it was he who sent Sean Payton into his temporary retirement.

George Kittle slams Dak Prescott over Kelly Clarkson's objections but salutes Brock Purdy

George Kittle mentioned two quarterbacks in his song, but it was not Jimmy Garoppolo or Trey Lance, the initial starting quarterbacks for the 49ers at the beginning of the season. He mentioned Dak Prescott and how Nick Bosa got to him during their playoff game. That certainly needled Cowboys fan Kelly Clarkson.

He also saluted Christian McCaffrey for his impact after joining the team midseason. But the first person he thanked was his quarterback Brock Purdy. The Mr. Irrelevant of last year's draft was undefeated for San Francisco until he went out injured in the NFC Championship game.

This is not the first time that George Kittle has held up Brock Purdy as the future of the San Francisco 49ers. He has said that it is his job to lose despite Trey Lance being a first-round pick.

It seems that the 49ers tight end would rather have Purdy as his quarterback going forward than Trey Lance. He has now gone public twice, including this year's NFL Honors, saying his preference aloud. It remains to be seen if Kyle Shanahan will be on board as well.

Shanahan has already publicly declared that Jimmy Garoppolo is not part of their plans going into the future. So, it is a direct competition between Lance and Purdy. Looking at the support he is getting from his teammates, the coach might decide to go ahead and build a team around Brock Purdy irrespective of how they had selected Trey Lance.
