San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle recently spoke out about left tackle Trent Williams and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and their current contract situations. Williams and Aiyuk are two of the best players on the 49ers' offense, and they are looking for contract extensions.

The players have decided to sit out training camp and haven't practiced with the team. Kittle showed respect to both players and was understanding of their situation.

Kittle also said the team would love to have the two practicing with the team, but at the same time, it's allowed more targets for himself and other offensive players:

"[Williams] is the best left tackle probably to ever play the game, so he'll be fine whenever he shows up. BA, we'd love to have him out there, understand what he's going through.

"I don't know if it's hard for us to build our identity [without them], but what it does allow us to do is let these [other] guys take opportunities they would not have gotten if he was out there. And hey, it's more targets for me and Christian [McCaffrey] and Deebo [Samuel] so far, so we're having a good time."

There haven't been any updates on Trent Williams, Brandon Aiyuk extensions according to coach Kyle Shanahan

As the 2024-25 season nears closer each day, there hasn't been much traction on contract extensions for Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams.

Coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Friday that there haven't been any updates on either player.

Aiyuk is holding in, meaning he is still at practice, but he's not participating in practice or drills. Williams is holding out, meaning he hasn't been present at team practices.

Williams and Aiyuk are valuable pieces in San Francisco's offense. Williams was a First-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowler last season, and he is an 11-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro in his career.

Aiyuk had a career year in 2023, recording a career-high 1,342 receiving yards, along with 75 catches and seven touchdowns. He was named a Second-Team All-Pro.

If either or both players decide to hold out when the season starts, it would be a blow to the 49ers' offense.
