Second-year running back Eric Gray of the New York Giants is having himself a night in the Giants' pre-season opener against the Carolina Panthers. Gray currently has himself two rushing touchdowns in the first half against the Panthers.
Gray got the Giants on the scoreboard and helped them take the lead at the beginning of the second quarter. He showcased his speed by breaking free for a 48-yard touchdown run with 9:12 left in the first half.
Gray didn't stop there. He scored less than five minutes later as he rushed for a second touchdown from a yard out. Gray's big second quarter has Giants fans feeling good about their backfield after losing running back Saquon Barkley in free agency.

Devin Singletary, Tryone Tracy Jr., and Eric Gray will be New York's featured running backs this season
There's no doubt Saquon Barkley is one of the best running backs in the league. He departed from the New York Giants as he signed a three-year $37.75 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason.
In free agency, the Giants replaced Barkley with Devin Singletary. Singletary had a career-high 898 rushing yards last season with the Houston Texans. He signed a three-year, $16.5 million contract with the Giants this offseason.
Fifth-round rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. is currently listed as the team's number two running back on the team. Eric Gray is currently listed as the team's third-string running back.
New York's backfield will likely be carried by Singletary with Tracy Jr. and Gray coming in for special packages/when the team wants to switch things up.
