Fans reacted as the New York Giants president John Mara is sticking by his guns, as the popular saying goes. On Wednesday, during the private advance premiere of the documentary film The Duke: The Giant Life of Wellington Mara, the president of the New York Giants was asked about the futures of the coach/general manager tandem of Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen.
He affirmed that both men's jobs were safe despite a 2-5 downfall in the 2024 season so far:
"Obviously, we're all very disappointed with where we are right now. But I'm going to say one thing, we are not making any changes this season, and I do not anticipate making any changes in the offseason, either."
He explained further:

"The process that they have, being in the meetings with them, talking about where they see us going forward, talking about their evaluation of our personnel, I still have confidence in both of them."
There was much mockery and criticism on his statement, though, with one tweeting:
"In other words, they'll be bad for years to come."
More criticism of John Mara can also be seen below:
"With the guy who let Saquon walk?!," one jeered.
"Owner ship is the problem," another rued.
"Translation: Please fu**ing tank I didn’t realize Jones was this a**," another's "analysis" went.
John Mara discusses thoughts on Saquon Barkley after Eagles RB's dominant showing at MetLife Stadium
It has been said that one of the primary reasons for the Giants' continuing collapse has been the loss of star running back Saquon Barkley, who left for divisional rivals Philadelphia Eagles in free agency.
This past Sunday, he returned to MetLife Stadium and utterly destroyed the Giants defense amidst deafening boos and shirt burnings, rushing for 176 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
After that performance, John Mara has some regrets about losing the two-time Pro Bowler and former Offensive Rookie of the Year. In the same aforementioned event, he said:
"He knows how I feel about him. I can't say that I was surprised by the game that he had. We greeted each other before the game. He's a great player. Not only was he a great player for us, but the way he represented us off the field, that is something that I always appreciate him for. He knows that."
The Giants next visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night. Kickoff is at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN/ABC.
