Giants reportedly decided on Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen's future amid disastrous 2024 season

After a dismal 2024 campaign, the New York Giants are expected to make sweeping changes in the offseason to bounce back in 2025. Owner John Mara has reportedly already decided whether head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen, who has been heavily critiqued for their role in the Giants' disastrous season, will return next year.

According to the Athletic's Dianna Russini, the team won't look for a new general manager in the offseason. Schoen is set to continue leading the franchise's day-to-day operations for at least another season. However, Daboll wasn't as lucky.

Russini reported that the Giants will fire their head coach. According to the insider, Mara no longer has faith in Daboll and will inform him that he's being let go.

Brian Daboll's record as Giants head coach

Daboll, a five-time Super Bowl champion as an assistant coach with the New England Patriots, was hired as the Giants' head coach in 2022 after a stellar three-year run with the Buffalo Bills as their offensive coordinator.

He was brought in to flip the franchise's fortunes after a horrendous 4-13 season in 2021. Daboll made an instant impact in New York, leading the Giants to a 9-7-1 record in his first year as the franchise's head coach and guiding them to their first playoff win in 11 years in the wildcard round.

The Eagles eliminated them in the divisional round, but the future seemed bright. Daboll was named the Associated Press Coach of the Year and was touted to lead the franchise back to glory. However, he and the Giants suffered a sophomore slump in 2023.

They finished with a 6-11 record and missed the playoffs, but the franchise wrote it off a blip and trusted Daboll to turn it around in 2024. However, this year has been even worse, as 16 games into the season, the Giants are 3-13.
