Former NFL tight end turned broadcaster Greg Olsen sent a direct message to the Chicago Bears' ownership about helping rebuild the struggling franchise. His statement arrives as the Bears evaluate their future after a disappointing 5-12 season.
Fox Sports NFL analyst Olsen has 14 years of playing experience and four years of broadcasting.
On ESPN Chicago's Waddle & Silvy show, Olsen talked about joining the Bears' rebuild alongside potential head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams.
"The McCaskeys have my number," Olsen said on Friday. "I've seen the McCaskey family here and there over the course of the last couple of seasons. They haven't lost my number. If we want to get this thing right, we can do that."

The timing resonates as Greg Olsen faces a career crossroads at Fox. He's been sidelined from playoff coverage in favor of Tom Brady. He was ranked as the No. 1 NFL announcing duo with Joe Davis by Awful Announcing Readers.
Greg Olsen to bring fresh ideas into the Bears camp
Greg Olsen advocates for NFL teams to broaden their search for talent beyond traditional channels. His criticism of recycling current coaches highlights his push for innovation in team building.
"I've learned more football calling games over the last four years than maybe I did when I was a player," Olsen said during the same interaction. "I've been let behind the curtain of some of the best organizations in the business and I come away saying okay I get why they win. Then there's other teams that I've spent a lot of time with and I come away saying they're not even close."
Olsen's perspective might benefit the Bears, who showed early promise with a 4-2 start before collapsing into a 10-game losing streak.
"I think sometimes the NFL and these teams need to take a step back and say, 'OK, is there some fresh ideas out there?'" Olsen added.
The former Pro Bowl tight end's broadcasting excellence extends beyond basic analysis.
"I would put my experience in NFL circles up with anybody over the last 20 years," Olsen said.
His mix of playing experience - including Super Bowl appearances and playoff misses - combined with his analytical prowess could offer the Bears a fresh approach to developing rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
