The Haason Reddick saga has gotten an update, which involves an NFC contender, the Detroit Lions. The 2023 NFC runners-up are in need of a pass rusher after Aidan Hutchinson went down with an injury.

There comes Reddick, who has held out the entire New York Jets season, trying to get a new contract. ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler detailed that the Lions have reached out to the Jets to try to see if they can get their hands on the 30-year-old Pro-Bowler.

“Haason Reddick would be an obvious player the Lions can inquire about, and I’ve been told they have reached out,” Fowler wrote on Wednesday. “Reddick’s recent hiring of agent Drew Rosenhaus, who is known for getting deals done expeditiously, could improve his chances of either staying with the Jets or facilitating a trade.”

He doubled down on X, formerly Twitter, saying that this situation isn't 100% clear at the moment.

"The #Lions have checked in on the Haason Reddick situation, per source. Could just be diligence. But Dan Campbell promised that GM Brad Holmes is doing his homework and that appears to be the case here."

This potential move depends on Haason Reddick's interest in a new deal, which would be hard to complete for the Lions, and what the Jets would ask for to get rid of him. However, given Woody Johnson's words directed at Reddick, it doesn't look like he's interested in letting him go away.

Woody Johnson implores Haason Reddick to join the Jets

Hours after firing Robert Saleh as the Jets' head coach, Woody Johnson showed a different face to Reddick.

Johnson pleaded with the pass rusher while talking with reporters, trying to convince him to end the holdout and join the rest of his teammates.

"[Haason Reddick] will find a very welcome locker room and he'll be able to fit right in with the Jets... But he's got to get here first. So, Haason, get in your car, drive down I-95 and come to the New York Jets. We can meet you and give you an escort right in the building and you will fit right in and you're going to love it here," Johnson said to reporters.

The Jets lost another game this week, this time against the Buffalo Bills. They missed several opportunities to win the game and dropped to 2-4. More changes could be coming if they don't turn the season around.
