Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is expected to be the most interviewed candidate for a head coaching gig in the 2025 offseason. The 38-year-old has transformed the Lions offense into the most potent and exciting unit in the league.

Johnson and the Lions showcased that in the first half of their Monday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers.

Facing 3rd-and-12, they ran an incredible hook-and-ladder play, where quarterback Jared Goff threw the ball to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who threw a lateral to Jameson Williams and caught the 49ers defense off-guard.

The third-year star ran the ball along the sideline while his teammates, aware that he'd be taking that path, blocked San Francisco's panicking players, giving him a clear runway to the endzone.

The incredible play design thoroughly impressed Pro Football Hall of Famer and ESPN analyst Shannon Sharpe. He came up with an interesting analogy to laud Johnson's unique play-calling. He posted on X:

"Lions have more tricks than 1000-dollar escort. Ben Johnson lions OC stays in his bag."
