Safety Harrison Smith will be returning to the Minnesota Vikings for the 2023 season on a restructured contract.
Smith was a candidate to be cut, but after agreeing to a restructured deal, he will remain with the Vikings for at least another season.
Smith has played in 159 regular-season games in his career, has been named an All-Pro twice and has been selected to six Pro Bowls. He will remain one of the Vikings' key starting safeties next season.

As per NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, Smith's restructured contract will see him make $8 million in the 2023 season. He has the chance to make $10 million as the contract has $2 million in incentives.
In 11 seasons with the Vikings, Smith has made $79 million.
The 34-year-old has 946 tackles, 16.5 sacks, 34 interceptions, 83 pass break-ups, nine forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries, and four defensive touchdowns.

The Minnesota Vikings have moved several veterans this off-season. The team released linebacker Eric Kendricks and wide receiver Adam Thielen. Linebacker Za'Darius Smith has requested a release, and the team has been receiving trade offers for running back Dalvin Cook.
Smith was also a candidate to be released. There were rumors that if he didn't agree to a pay cut he would be let go.
The restructured deal saves the Vikings $6.7 million towards the cap. Prior to Smith's restructured deal, the team had -$2.5 million in space, according to overthecap.com.
