Despite the fact that Britney Spears has never been a Super Bowl headliner, she joined Aerosmith and NSYNC in 2001 and performed at Super Bowl XXXV.
A few days ago, she shared footage of her 2001 Super Bowl performance on Instagram.
Spears participated in the "Kings of Rock and Pop" halftime show, which featured Aerosmith and *NSYNC, at the beginning of the new century. Nelly, Mary J. Blige, and the "Toxic" vocalist joined the ensemble as special guests for the medley.
Spears posted a one-minute clip of the performance, in which she can be seen jamming out to Aerosmith's 1986 Run-D.M.C. collaboration, "Walk This Way." Steven Tyler, her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, and Chris Kirkpatrick featured alongside her.

In 2017, according to reports, Britney Spears contacted the NFL to say that she would like to perform in the halftime show. She allegedly held "secret meetings" with television and advertising executives connected to Super Bowl LII in order to secure a spot in the halftime show.
An insider told the Daily News, "Britney has made it obvious to her team that it is a desire to perform at a Super Bowl." If the NFL chooses to offer Spears a position during the Super Bowl, the source noted, mentioning she "may possibly be bundled with other prominent artists" to round out the halftime show.
The NFL confirmed on October 22, 2017, that Justin Timberlake was the featured performer instead of Britney Spears, despite Spears' best efforts. It was broadcast nationally by NBC and met with mixed reviews. A total of 106.6 million viewers tuned in, a decrease of 9% from the halftime performance the year before.
The headliner was rumored to be Britney Spears, but Pepsi quickly denied it. Several publications reported in August and September 2017 that Timberlake was the frontrunner to perform at the big game.
Throwback to Super Bowl XXXV (2001)
The game took place on January 28, 2001, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. "The Kings of Rock and Pop" was the name of the performance. Aerosmith and NSYNC were the headliners, and Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears, Nelly, Tremors, and The Earthquake Horns all made appearances.
The program was created by MTV, which at the time was a sibling network of CBS, which televised the big game. E-Trade sponsored the program.
Aerosmith was promoting their upcoming album Just Push Play at the time of the performance. Fans stood around the stage on the field for the first time ever during a Super Bowl halftime performance.
Aerosmith and NSYNC performed a back-and-forth medley during the performance. A pre-recorded sketch starring Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, and Chris Rock, together with Aerosmith and NSYNC, was shown before the performance.
NSYNC opened the performance with "Bye Bye Bye." Aerosmith then performed "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" afterward. After NSYNC, Earthquake Horns and Tremors performed "It's Gonna Be Me." Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, sang the song's final lyric, "It's Going to Be Me," before the band went on to perform "Jaded."
The performance of Aerosmith's song "Walk This Way" marked the conclusion of the concert.
Tyler said,
"I didn't hit on Britney. However, I did let her know that I was interested in exchanging shirts, and she agreed. Everyone enjoys making fun of her, yet she makes a lot of people happy."
This year's halftime show stands to be yet another spectacle for fans.
